AboutUs Willy's sauces are clean!

Bill Downing and Andrew Bausman are the founders of Willy’s Foods, LLC.  They met many years ago through a mutual friend. Their love of cooking, travel and exotic dishes quickly became a catalyst to their long-term friendship.

Careers in sales and marketing being as they are, Bill and Andrew found themselves simultaneously laid off from their jobs.  They decided to bring creativity to bear and launch their own line of healthy cooking sauces. The four sauces now on the market are a compilation of more than 20 years of research, taste testing and experimentation on their patient families.

Their strongest area of agreement was that Willy’s Foods can be manufactured with only the finest natural ingredients.

For years Andrew and Bill shopped the aisles of grocery stores, looking for “clean and authentic” products, but were hard pressed to find either.  High-fructose corn syrup, for example, is a main ingredient for the majority of sauces on the market today. Aside from its negative health implications, it is simply not authentic.

Bill said it best when he asked, “Authentic? You don’t think a Jamaican grabs a jug of high-fructose corn syrup or chemicals and dyes when they make a batch of jerk sauce, do you?”

As you can tell, the passion of the Willy’s Foods founders is in clean, natural and authentic products. Not content with just four products; they envision other opportunities to apply this philosophy to many other delicious home cooking products that are both exciting and easy to use.

In the early 1800s lobster was considered food for the poor, for prisoners and for servants. Some towns even had laws against serving lobster to guests. Lobster had such a bad reputation that it was used as fertilizer in farming. By 1820 big cities like New York and Boston in the U.S. were asking for more and more for consumption.

Portobellos are large cremini-like mushrooms that are sometimes the size of a regular hamburger! These fungi are circular, flat, and long, with a dense, chewy texture. Portobellos are excellent for grilling or roasting. One portabella mushroom has more potassium than a banana.
